The types of agricultural credit in the system of rural government that existed in Poltava province of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries both in cash and in the form of commodities have been analyzed. The important areas of cooperation between public authorities, territorial self-government and co-operative organizations in lending direct producers of crops and livestock, as well as improving the quality of agricultural land have been disclosed.
